The University of Amsterdam has risen one place from last year in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings and now occupies 65th place worldwide. This makes the UvA the second highest ranked Dutch university in the rankings. THE published the 2021-2022 rankings on Thursday, 2 September.
As is the case every year, Dutch universities are strongly represented, with seven in the top 100. Just like last year, the UvA is the second highest ranked Dutch university in the ranking. Wageningen University & Research has the highest ranking of any Dutch institution, coming in 53th. The top three in the world are made up of University of Oxford, California Institute of Technology and Harvard University, respectively.
The Times Higher Education Rankings are based on 13 performance indicators distributed over five categories: teaching (30%), research (30%), citations (30%), international outlook (7.5%) and industry income (2.5%). As was the case last year, the UvA recorded its highest scores in citations and international outlook.
