An unknown place? The Maghreb as 'Europe's New Neigbour', by Dr. Fouad Laroui

Dr. Fouad Laroui holds a degree in Maths and Physics, has graduated as a Civil Engineer at the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (Paris), received a PhD in Economics (cum laude) with a dissertation on 'Environment and macroeconomics' and has been teaching French literature for some years now. He is the author of seven novels and several essays.

An unknown place? The Maghreb as 'Europe's New Neigbour'.

During his lecture, Dr. Laroui will explain why the Maghreb is one of the world's most unique regions by highlighting some of its historical, cultural and economic aspects.

De Nieuwe Generatie

This lecture forms part of the series De Nieuwe Generatie. The faculty's investment plan Duurzame Geesteswetenschappen contains a proposal for employing new university lecturers under the heading of a Second New Generational Offensive (Tweede Nieuwe-generatieoffensief). During this series the first lecturers, who are recent university appointments themselves, will eloborate more on the research they will be undertaking.
