Research at the Faculty of Humanities

The research domain belonging to the humanities encompasses a large quantity of disciplines such as book and information studies, film and television studies, philosophy, history, art history, literature, musicology, linguistics, theatre studies and theology. Several research subjects cannot, however, merely be restricted to one or individual disciplines, but instead lend themselves to an interdisciplinary approach. In order to successfully divide the Faculty’s research in both a relevant and practical manner, several aspects are important, the most essential being that research fields should be consistent and recognisable in content. Because of the organisational structure of faculty research and the flexible format which exists for regrouping research and reassigning priorities, it is vital that the amount of research fields are restricted.

Two important components of the humanities are ‘culture’ and ‘language’. Aligning with the existing research of the Faculty, the academic orientation on culture can be enclosed in an historical and analytical approach.
