Building on the strong tradition of collaboration among medievalists at the UvA, the Center for Medieval Studies Amsterdam (CMSA) will facilitate a stable and lasting cooperation among and for the benefit of undergraduates, graduates, and research and teaching staff. It is envisioned as a dynamic, multi-disciplinary center for learning and development, uniting all those involved and interested in any aspect of medieval culture and heritage.
The CMSA offers a range of activities for diverse audiences. Each year we organize a lecture series featuring speakers from the University of Amsterdam as well as other Dutch and international universities on ongoing research in all fields relating to medieval studies. On both BA and MA levels students can follow interdisciplinary courses offered by the CMSA. In cooperation with students a medieval colloquium presents monthly activities including excursions, lectures and round table discussions in order to introduce the several facets of medieval studies and bring students into contact with each other.
