The brain relies solely on glucose as an energy source, and is closely involved in the regulation of glucose levels. Merel Rijnsburger studies the role played by nutrients in the central regulation of body weight and peripheral glucose metabolism. This can help increase our understanding of conditions such as diabetes and obesity.
